Bodies doing somersaults
Inspired by beach walks and the natural objects we love to collect, as children or adults, I created this series thinking about precious objects we find and then put in our pockets. Gradually, as my search for forms became more precise, I began to imagine bodies in movement, curved and playful, bodies doing somersaults. This series is a playful attempt to understand the relationships that human beings maintain with natural objects that endure, that exist well beyond the human, that belong to another temporality. It also constituted for me a liberation of the ceramic gesture, similar to sketches in drawing and to my photographic process with the analog half-frame camera.
