discontinuity

This is the culminating project of my graduate degree. The series is heavily research, accident and experimentation based. discontinuity explores the faulty human perception of the passing of time and the experience of space in the repetitive act of observing and photographing the aquatic element and its surroundings. Expired film becomes further unpredictable by unusually hand-held long-exposures and overlapping frames. All the photographs are taken with a plastic or wood pinhole camera (small, medium and large format), at once a celebration and an utter refusal of traditional photography.
